ABSTRACT

The Million Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI) (Millon, 1981, 1987) has become a popular instrument for clinical diagnosis. Upon the test’s introduction, there were favorable expectations for the MCMI from professionally reputable sources (Butcher & Owen, 1978; Korchin & Schuldberg, 1981), and a recent survey of training directors at diagnostic practicum sites found that 50% believe the test should be taught in graduate psychology programs (Craig & Horowitz, 1990). The instrument is now widely used in clinical settings and increasingly used in research settings.
