ABSTRACT

The popular MCMI-II is designed to assess 13 personality disorders and 9 clinical syndromes. An important basic question is what factors or dimensions does the MCMI-II actually measure and how closely do they correspond to the scales? This chapter reviews and evaluates the findings obtained in two recent factor analytic structures of the MCMI-II. One study is by Lorr, Strack, Campbell, and Lamnin (1990); the other was conducted by Retzlaff, Lorr, Hyer, and Ofman(1991).
