ABSTRACT
The first question to ask before embarking on a technical analysis of some new technology should always be ... why bother? If a new technology is to be worthy of discussion, it should present a discernible advantage over presently available technologies. Those that do have at least some chance of overcoming the political, financial and cultural pressures which haunt most of mankind's technical endeavours.
