ABSTRACT
In the planning stages, the demonstration at the climate talks in Copenhagen in December 2009, and the associated protests in cities around the world, were often discussed as if they were the culmination of all previous years of campaigning against climate change. Indeed, from the perspective of 2012, it is easy to look back on them as the apogee of the climate movement, meaning that from then on it has been all downhill.
