ABSTRACT
Historically, developmental psychologists have always been interested in the influences of children’s social contexts. However, in looking at childhood environments, developmental research has largely been dominated by a focus on contexts that are provided by adults, and almost exclusively by adults who fulfill a caretaking or teaching role.
