ABSTRACT
Jane Loevinger was right to distinguish the conception of ego development (ED) from theories thereof, and insightful in grasping the likelihood that the conception might outlast the theories. In this chapter, I propose that the conception implies general systems theory (GST) and might profit from being explicitly grounded in it.
