ABSTRACT
Despite having the word judgment in its very name, there has been no serious discussion in the situational judgment test (SJT) literature about the nature of human judgment and its role in situational judgment testing. Although content varies widely across SJTs, compared with other ability tests, the tests typically require a series of judgments in response to domain-related dilemmas. Consider this example item from the situational judgment portion of the FBI special agent selection process:
