ABSTRACT
This preliminary report is based on eleven years of qualitative sociological research (Schwartz & Jacobs, 1979) in the United Kingdom with males who either wear the clothes of the opposite sex for the pleasure it gives them (cross-dressers) or who wish to change sex and are actively going about it (sex-changers).
