ABSTRACT

Chapter 2 reported how the project researchers utilized the employment data to measure and describe the industrial structure of Ohio's sixteen edge cities. While the ES-202 data are perhaps the richest and most informative data currently available anywhere for this purpose, Ohio's edge cities contain far more inherent variation dian this or any other such data set could possibly capture. Therefore case studies were used to augment and complete their description. Accordingly, Chapters 4 through 11 contain reports by firsthand observers who went into the field to investigate and describe the historical development and economic geography of the various Ohio edge cities.
