ABSTRACT

The purpose of this chapter is to examine age discrimination employment laws around the globe using the Age Discrimination Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA) in the United States (US) as a focal point. We will compare ADEA case law to case law in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales), and Ireland. We will also consider the legal context in forecasting what I-O psychology research and practice could do to address legal issues with the aging workforce.
