ABSTRACT

Psychotropic, or mind-altering, medication is widely used in a variety of therapeutic contexts. Psychotherapists, patients and families often have strong feelings and opinions regarding these drugs, and the management of their use is frequently complex. The systemic influences that surround the prescription and use or misuse of psychotropic medication would be well-addressed by Erickson's utilization approach. However, the strategic management of medicine-related behaviors has rarely been discussed in the literature.
