ABSTRACT

In order to prevent rehospitalization of schizophrenic patients, we use a crisis intervention program in our day clinic in Prague. One of the main goals of the crisis intervention program is to help the patients and/or families achieve symptom control. This chapter first analyzes the nature of crises. Crises are reframed as positive developmental phenomena. Levels of therapeutic relationships are then presented. A quasimeditative scheme is offered to promote neutrality as a way to cope with resistance. Illustrative case studies are included.
