ABSTRACT

Every therapy case is different, touching the person of the therapist in different ways. Although challenging in their complexity, the problems addressed in the case presented here were not particularly unusual. I liked Tom and Joanne and we worked well together. Rarely do couples stay in treatment long enough to address not only presenting problems but other significant relationship issues as well. This couple worked on many difficult issues, leading to significant changes in themselves and in their lives together. They entered therapy as two disconnected individuals; they left therapy as a couple.
