ABSTRACT
A divisive debate has arisen in the professional community regarding the existence of ritual abuse. There has been a split between those who believe the accounts of the victims and survivors and those who maintain that the reports are delusional or factious. The current controversy has created confusion among clinicians, childprotection workers, and criminal justice personnel. This chapter provides an overview of the issue and makes recommendations regarding assessment and investigation directions.
