ABSTRACT

“It's the ADD zone, where what I see is not what's really happening. I feel like people around me are laughing and I've missed the joke. It's like the world is based on some secret code that I can't decipher. I'm always on the brink of making sense out of things, but then I lose it again,” states an adult with ADD, who, like most, has trouble understanding the intricacies of social behavior and the nuances of social relationships. Even if an ADD adult has not had educational or occupational problems, or has learned how to cope with educational or occupational demands, social relationships can remain a shadowy frontier, muddled with uncertainty and insecurity. And intimate relationships can be the biggest puzzle of all.
