ABSTRACT

A psychophysical judgment implicates both sensory and judgmental levels of processing. A framework and a methodology that have been helpful in attempts to explicate the sensory and judgmental aspects have been provided by the two-stage model of magnitude judgment. This paper summarizes some of the research strategies associated with this framework. The strategies to be presented relate to both experimental methodology and methods of data analysis. They are illustrated by some applications to issues in psychophysical judgment.
