ABSTRACT
In 1911, having just graduated from M.I.T. with a B.S. in electrochemistry, Edward Tolman enrolled in two summer courses in the Philosophy Department at Harvard College. One was a course in introductory philosophy taught by Ralph Barton Perry and the other a course in introductory psychology given by Robert Yerkes. In fact, both men were to have a lasting influence on Edward Tolman.
