ABSTRACT

Reprinted from the Southwestern Journal of Anthropology, Vol. 12, pp. 347-370, 1956. Dorothy Eggan lived from 1901 to 1965. The central focus of her anthropological work was the study of Hopi personality through the medium of dreams, and the importance of this approach began to be recognized during the last decade of her life. A high point in her life was her adoption by the women of the Fire Clan at Old Oraibi and her very close relationships with them for many years.
