ABSTRACT

Within seconds after a plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York at 8:45 a.m. EST on September 11, 2001, the television networks jumped into action. Even with limited information at the time, news announcers began describing the events that initially they didn’t understand. They had no choice, no time to prepare. News-papers and magazines did have some limited time, and they immediately began planning and reporting for their accounts of the same events to be published the following morning or later.
