ABSTRACT

Information technologies are indeed changing the world. The introduction of the computer and now the linkage of computers to the global network of the Internet vastly alter the patterns of life that have become customary in modern society. Individuals are now connected to one another, to the events and places around the world with an effective, instantaneous apparatus of information machines. The location in space of the individual body no longer limits the possibilities for that person to engage in relations with others, to act as a consumer, to participate in cultural or political events, to connect with others having the same special interest. These changes also affect the domain of work.
