ABSTRACT

The European culture that has dominated these United States since its beginning is continually being imbued with the cultures of the people of color, and most recently by Hispanics. This infusion is the start of a new epoch, one that will be unique to the New World. Hispanic culture is now sweeping across three thousand miles: from the West Coast, Southwest, and Midwest, where huge areas are densely populated by Chicanos, to the South, where Cubans have turned Miami into a minor Hispanic capital. Finally, there is the East Coast and New York City, cultural capital of the Western World, populated by the greatest concentration of Puerto Ricans living outside of the island of Puerto Rico.
