ABSTRACT

Throughout the world today women are demanding the right to determine the major issues concerning their lives on their own terms. The late 1960s witnessed the advent of a new phase in women’s liberation struggles. This movement was aided by social, economic, and political ideologies such as Marxism, the Socialist Workers Party, the Young Socialist Alliance, the Young Lords Party, the Puerto Rican Socialist Party, and numerous other politically active organizations which sprang up nationally in universities and urban communities. 1
