ABSTRACT

From the documents that I have received from the organizers of this meeting, I gather that their principal concern is the image and identity of the Puerto Rican as it is reflected in literature. I also note that the agenda of the conference could be divided into two parts. The first and most important one is the clarification of the topic. The second refers to more practical matters, which although they can help shed light on the major theme, depend greatly for their analysis on the previous clarification of the topic. Such is the case with the theme of our panel: Puerto Rican literature in the school curriculum.
