ABSTRACT
I respond to these three chapters as someone who has always stood outside the academic planning community even though I can claim to have had close associations with that community over the last thirty years. Indeed, I tend to regard myself as belonging to a rare breed of non- academic planning theorist, if that phrase is not to be regarded as a contradiction in terms.
