ABSTRACT

Furthermore, for the past several years (2005-through today, December 2007), sexual attacks have been common occurrences outside the refugee camps in Chad, where black African females are attacked by a broad spectrum of males (i.e., local Chadian men, Chadian rebels fi ghting against the Chadian government, Chadian military and police offi cials, and Janjaweed who periodically carry out cross border attacks against the black Africans in the refugee camps). Just as in Darfur, the women are generally attacked as they are out foraging for wood (and, in certain cases, fetching water).
