Parliamentarism as a European Type of Polity

Travellers on the Trans-Siberian railway can see the sign for the border between Asia and Europe in the Urals. Nonetheless the eastern borders of Europe are more controversial than the western borders. There are those who still draw the border into the English Channel, most notably John Pocock, who named the western part “Britain” (Pocock 1991).
