ABSTRACT

In a world where the human and animal population is burgeoning by the day, greed, avarice, and an unending quest for increasing levels of standards of living, measured more by material goods rather than by any scale of happiness, good governance, and sustainable inclusive development, have become competitive rather than cohabiting with each other. In the developing countries, particularly in the emerging marketing economies, good governance has come to be synonymous with high rates of economic development. Rapid economic development by its very process leads initially to increasing disparities in income; exploitation of non-renewable resources leads to questions on sustainable development and the impact of development on climatic change. A Government of India (2011–2012) report has raised questions on good governance; inclusive development, particularly in the context of a conflict between economic growth process in the rapidly developing countries of China and India; and their cumulative impact on climate change.
