ABSTRACT
The theories of Karl Marx and Pierre Bourdieu can be reconciled. The former places in the centre of his analysis phenomena of exploitation and alienation and uses these concepts for emancipation. The latter explains the mechanisms of domination in various fields and wants to create a sociology that reveals social constructions.
