For decades now, the competitiveness of airports has been defined by the growth figures of passenger and cargo traffic. In this measurement of competitiveness, sustainability of the economic developments or quality of life in the airport region and achieving win-win situations seemed to be of less, if not of little, importance (Figure 6.1).
