ABSTRACT

The previous chapters have described the two-year special-focus colleges that enroll women students only or primarily enroll students of one non-white racial or ethnic group. Some of these schools, such as women’s colleges and historically black colleges, have a long history of providing access and facilitating academic success for their particular student body. Other schools, such as tribal colleges and predominantly Hispanic institutions, are newer entrants to higher education, but many have already demonstrated success in serving non white students.
