ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the application of new technologies in education by:
presenting a picture of the past use of new technology;
identifying why policy-makers have supported the use of ICT;
exploring the association between technology and curriculum reform;
highlighting contributions of new technology to pupil engagement;
considering constraints on the take up of new technology;
outlining future prospects for teaching and learning with new technology.
