ABSTRACT
In the year 1657 George Fox, founder of the Quaker movement, addressed a meeting in the fields outside a small country town in Shropshire. At one point in his address his teaching was challenged by a member of the audience, whereupon Fox called upon the people to take out their Bibles and look up the relevant passage.
