ABSTRACT

The development of educational guidance for adults has been dramatic since the beginning of the 1970s, and has been reflected in the growth of literature on the subject. As late as 1974, Kelly’s ‘Select Bibliography’ 1 had almost no references to educational guidance. By 1981, the National Institute of Adult Education (NLAE) had published a lengthy monograph reviewing existing research, 2 based on its own continuously updated computer-held file.
