ABSTRACT
Global improvements in communications and transportation, the mounting reliance on modern technology and technical skills, and the increasing interdependence of nations in the international economy are among the universal forces behind the expansion of overseas study. UNESCO statistics report 107,589 overseas students in 1950, rising to 938,804 in 1985; currently the global total may easily exceed one million.
