ABSTRACT

With tertiary institutions being knowledge centers, the effort of enhancing the knowledge environment is embedded in the structure of valuing faculty contributions to research and scholarship. However, the existing low salary and remuneration structure in Ethiopia, coupled with provisions of meager resources, is seen to result in an inadequate pool of qualified and satisfied staff. This study describes salary and remuneration structure in the system and calls for the need to institute a reward scheme that would provide such institutions with much-needed intellectual expertise.
