ABSTRACT

University faculty in Saudi universities enjoy generous remuneration. This perspective reflects policymakers’ conviction that quality faculty members and teaching staff are the basis for advanced, excellent higher education and eventually for economic and social development. Salaries, various allowances, and incentives available to faculty members in the universities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia compare favorably on a global basis. This chapter examines faculty remuneration in Saudi Arabia. It also provides a basic idea about the type of academic contracts offered to faculty, their qualifications, and their positions at universities in Saudi Arabia.
