ABSTRACT
This chapter provides an overview of the contemporary higher education system in the former Soviet republic of Armenia, with a specific focus on faculty remuneration and the factors shaping compensation in academia. Through the use of surveys and data collected during this research, the results presented here highlight the determinants and sources of faculty compensation; discuss formal and other sources of income, as well as teaching, research roles, and expectations; and discuss current trends in these areas.
