ABSTRACT

It is well-known that trees play an important role in producing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide and that could be the starting topic of this chapter. However, as we intend to reflect about the links between forestry and landscape architecture, we start by looking at trees as one of the most important components of the natural and, for that matter, cultural landscape. Trees are the living element that best identifies the link between forestry and landscape architecture. The presence of a tree takes a hegemonic form in forests, and it is also a striking feature in landscape architecture.
