ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at one of the main elements used in landscape architecture – trees and other woody plants. These are used in many ways by landscape architects to give structure to the landscape and usually students have to know a set number of trees and shrubs which they often go on to use in their later work – only knowing a limited number out of many thousands.
