ABSTRACT

Psychologists have long been interested in questions related to how people choose an occupation or a career, how they search for suitable job opportunities, and how they evaluate and decide between available job alternatives. This is not surprising, since choosing well-fitting careers and jobs positively predicts outcomes related to performance, well-being, and health (for example, Kristof-Brown, Zimmerman, & Johnson, 2005; Tsabari, Tziner, & Meir, 2005). Furthermore, in modern dynamic labor markets, both career decision making and job seeking are no longer limited to graduating students and unemployed people, but form an integral aspect of people’s working lives.
