ABSTRACT

In this chapter we present our own conception of objectives in educational psychology. In the process we take up the points made by the many writers in the fields of objectives and educational psychology. We also consider the views of students and of colleagues in colleges and schools as we found them in our surveys. In doing so we find that we have taken up a position similar to that of De Ceceo, in that we recognize that there are problems involved in the process of specifying objectives, but this does not preclude our using them. We are not ignoring the criticisms made of the practice, but we are convinced that many arguments made in their favour are valid and that a number of the arguments against them are open to serious questioning.
