ABSTRACT
Mating Intelligence (MI) is the whole set of human psychological adaptations for sexual reproduction-for making babies, but not for raising them (which would be Parenting Intelligence, presumably). MI includes mental capacities for courtship and display; for sexual competition and rivalry; for relationship-formation, commitment, coordination, and termination; for flirtation, foreplay, and copulation; for mate-search, mate-choice, mate-guarding, and mate-switching; and for many other behavioral capacities that bring mainly reproductive payoffs (Miller, 2000a). Each of these capacities cuts across traditional psychological distinctions between perception, cognition, emotion, motivation, learning, memory, planning, intelligence, and personality.
