ABSTRACT

The world today is comprised of interpenetrating systems. Global interaction among political systems, cultures, and organizations is a fact of life. Conflict is inevitable when systems interpenetrate one another. Earlier in the history of the world, conflict was resolved through domination, fighting, and warfare. The strong won, the weak lost. Today, conflicts are numerous but limited in their scope. Still, the world is experiencing more conflict than it has for many years and in many areas: economic, ethnic, regional, cultural, class, and gender conflict. If there is such a thing as a New World Order, it is an order based on conflict.
