ABSTRACT

The Oliver family has always been perceived as close and supportive by those who know this family. Louigi Olivieri and his young bride Christina arrived in New York City shortly after the turn of the century. They brought with them three young children and made their way through Ellis Island much like thousands had done before them. The border officials thought Olivieri was not an appropriate American name and officially changed the name to Oliver as Louigi and family were placed on a train to Pittsburgh to join several siblings who had arrived a year before. Louigi had a railroad job waiting in Pittsburgh as well as a very comfortable home that was to be shared with an older brother and his growing family.
