ABSTRACT

Chihuahua is the capitol city of the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. It is a city with a revolutionary history, very mixed heritage, and an industrialized present. Chihuahua is remotely located, as it is over 1,000 miles from Mexico City. It is in the desert that begins off the edges of the Sierra Madre mountain range, and much of its culture is determined by geography. The state's major university, La Universidad Autonoma de Chihuahua (UACH), has a medical school with a long history. Chihuahua's hospitals host residency programs for students from throughout the Republic of Mexico. The city is considered to be one of the more modernized cities in Mexico and its doctors pride themselves on their training and professionalism.
