ABSTRACT
THIS study is an analysis of the sacred and secular dynamics of the African-American communications system … My soul look back and wonder … which has served to extrapolate, ritualize, and thus preserve the African essence of Afro-American life … how I got over. We seek to develop a theoretical and conceptual framework for defining Black communication by explicating the cosmology of traditional Africa and demonstrating its continuity in both sacred and secular Black 1 life. Of necessity we have centered our search on the Traditional Black Church 2 because of its crucial and long-standing historical role in sustaining the culture and communication process of African-Americans.
