ABSTRACT

This chapter includes resources that describe and assess the application and impact of mass communications on all aspects of daily life, including recreation and entertainment, information and news, education, consumerism, and employment. Many of the useful topical bibliographies listed first, notably Signorelli’s ROLE PORTRAYAL AND STEREOTYPING ON TELEVISION (0588), address timely and controversial issues. Because they were published in the mid-1980s, most need updating. Researchers should consult the various relevant indexing and abstracting services for more recent work.
