ABSTRACT

The internal security situation remains a serious challenge to the stability of India. There is no doubt that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) has undergone some improvement in terms of the incidents of violence. But terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control (LoC) remains intact and infiltration of militants whether through the LoC or through other routes continues unabated. Similarly in the northeast, no major breakthrough is visible in the insurgencies in Manipur, Assam and Nagaland. Arunachal Pradesh has been an area of tension because of China's claims and machinations.
