ABSTRACT
In chapters seven and eight, I pointed to some of the possibilities, limits, and ethical/educational complexities involved in actually doing responsive education. I described both the experience of creating new educational and esthetic possibilities, and new identities for youth, and the continuing role of the Friday Seminar in building a social site that supports community and builds alliances across differences that might otherwise cause it to become a less effective (and affective) educational and political space. Both chapters are stories involving yes and no, conflicts and tensions. Both involve what are (sometimes partial and/or temporary) victories and, especially in the story of film-making, about the real possibility of loss. But each of them gives us reason for some hope.
