ABSTRACT

Since the 1980s, researchers have advocated the benefits of partnerships between schools, families, and communities as a means for promoting student achievement (Epstein & Sanders, 1998; Henderson, 1987; enderson, Mapp, Johnson, & Davies, 007). With school personnel finding it increasingly difficult to address the diverse needs of students with existing resources (Merz & Furman, 1997), school-community partnerships are a way to garner additional resources, social support, and educational experiences to supplement students’ in-school learning opportunities (Hands, 2005).
